Laos
Laos is a beautiful country with a lot of scenic, historical, and cultural highlights. The mountainous and landlocked country is appropriate for travelers that enjoy discovering remote areas. It has numerous famous sights, stunning architecture, spectacular landscapes, and people that still practice their traditions.
UNESCO world heritage sites like Luang Prabang is a great place to take photos as it is filled with colonial structures and beautiful temples. The majority of the buildings in the city have been preserved in their original state making for the best photos. The area is also surrounded by breathtaking hills, peppered with villages that take pride in their culture, with some residents being open to their photos being taken. Although considered one of the best locations to visit in Asia for photographers, it requires proper planning to get excellent images.
Angkor Wat Phu is an additional UNESCO site that is a great stopover while in Laos. It can be accessed via Mekong River allowing travelers to explore areas such as the port of Pakse, Boloven Plateau as well other plantations and landscapes. Right next to the Mekong River is the Si Phan Don archipelago filled with myriad isles, picturesque waterways, and traditional villages. The riverine is a great place to capture beautiful sunsets while on a boat alone or with other travelers looking to capture the unique sight.
Colorful night markets in Luang Prabang are also an excellent place to capture villagers selling
and buying wares. Colored umbrellas and local crafts made by the locals are great souvenirs or
gifts for your family back home.
